Sorry for the Hiatus

me
Hey it's me again. Sorry for the long hiatus since my last blog post (which i believe was a mobile post I made on the iPhone BlogPress App.).
I'm currently at the Yale Ave. Starbucks- in the Claremont Village- -which is kinda similar to the Palo Alto area where I grew up (like a long long time ago).

Yea.

I'm gonna be attending my first youth service tomorrow (at NAC San Dimas)! ... Yea I do the whole church thing- Living here in America is surely a test of faith. People around you do react differently when you say "I'm a Christian". So yea, youth service  should be awesome.

School is tough. Yea. It is tough but I think I can do this- I'm not backing down hehe.. Prep school really does prep you for college in terms of academics, maturity and responsibility. Lots of unis are gonna be coming over to Webb this October and... I'm kinda re-evaluating my perception of a dream college. I'm kinda considering schools I have NEVER heard before... Thinking of maybe going liberal arts + engineering dual degree but.. let's see what happens. [Yea im still a sophomore but this whole air of stress and anxiety that the seniors have about college is contagious lol]

Oh. and I got PSATs soon.. like real soon. /gottastudy

Okay so I'll end this blog post on this note and I will see you soon (God permitting.)

God gave us all the fairest land,
Ramparts of bright blue sea.
Where men wrought, fearless of thought,
Freedom for hears made free.
O Alma Mater, sternly fair,
Mother of Spartan mould.
In Freedom's name we shall cherish thy fame.

Honor the Blue and Gold!

no idea why i did that- school patriotism I guess?

| It's 9.55 and study hours had ended like 25 minutes ago. Still waiting for those prefects to give back my cellphone (they take every boarder's cellphone during study hours). They've got open pool down in Sutro but I don't think I'm going (I mean- what is there to do). Enjoying my classes here- Tomorrow's gonna be a great day. |

in case you haven't noticed, experimenting with shorter blog posts

After three days afk

  • Aug. 28th, 2009 at 1:20 PM
me
After three days out in the forests of South California I am back! WOOO! LOL. I think it's been a while since my last blog and a lot has happened since.

First off, Welcome Week at Webb is coming to a close. Tomorrow we get to pick up our schedule n textbooks and the week following- CLASSES!

WOOO! ... no really- I am excited for classes-... (PLZ AP Mod.Euro.Hist = EPICNESS)

And yeaa.. okay so a rundown of the week...

Monday we had convocation, all-school BBW, Welcome Back Assemby... oh... and I had placement testing for math....  ALSO I GOT IN MUSEUM FOR AFTERNOON ACTIVITY- and Dr. Farke gave me like this summer's peccary trip stuff to clean up n stuff- dino egg shells, turtle skeletons, n stuff like that.

Tueday we had Class Meetings and Advisory. LOL VIVA LA SENOR VALERA'S ADVISORY! WOOO!! yea- advisory is like homeroom- except its like only 6 people instead of 24. Oh and tuesday's afternoon activity = CLEANING UP AND PIECING TOGETHER A HADROSAUR LEG BONE.

OH AND EVEN THOUGH IM WORKING ON THESE SUPPOSED MILLION YEAR OLD FOSSILS- I STILL THINK THE UNIVERSE HAS BEEN AROUND FOR JUST 6000 YEARS. YEA IM CONTRADICTIVE THAT WAY!

Wednseday, Thursday, Friday - Retreat on Big Bear Mountain. It was epic and stuff- We did team building and stuff like that. And um, I got like pictures from the retreat in my photo gallery (gallery.me.com/andrewpandji#100031)

Okay then, yea- great week, can't wait for classes to start and yep.

this is one of the pictures I took from the retreat- beautiful view of Big Bear lake- Amazing ain't it?

PHOTODUMP: Hello again! it's me again, drewprox42, and I bring along with me... PICTURES... Yes you're ears ain't foolin' you folks- I've brought along graphical elements for today's blog post- how cool is that? I figured you'd get bored with the regular wall of text so hopefully this would work well-

So without any further ado..

Webb Entrance

This is the Webb entrance- It's on Baseline- take the Indian Hill exit out off I-10 and make a left- You're gonna end up here. It's all made out of stone and stuff and it is pretty awesome. It says:
THE WEBB SCHOOLS, then below it WEBB SCHOOL OF CALIFORNIA and VIVIAN WEBB SCHOOL,
then below it RAYMOND M ALF MUSEUM.

Jameson 217

This is Jameson 217, also known as Andrew's room (and in some parts of the world, 'The L33test Place Ever'... nah just kiddin'). SO yea, for my sophomore year at Webb, I will reside in Middle Jameson 217, pretty auspicious number if you ask me- 7 being the perfect number. (Also 117, 217 minus a 100 was Master Chief's UNSC call tag in the Halo universe, so it's also a geek cred kinda thing ya know..)

Moving In

This is all my stuff- Retreat stuff, binders, whiteboard thing, stuff from Staples, bed covers etc.

lights

My room with lights turned on

Room

My room with all stuff inside.

..and I'll end it with this...

Nice picture of campus

a beautiful view of campus from the historic Webb House.

Okay, so that is it. See ya again soon-

ORIENTATION LOG DAY ONE

BLOG: Hi. Today's blog format will be a little different. First of all, it's gonna be longer, and I'm gonna go into great lengths in retelling my experience in today's orientation. I did take pictures, but that will have to wait til tomorrow cause my new computer ain't set up with my primary camera so, yea, pics gotta wait.

So anyways... today was awesome! Met a couple of people from all over the world- China mostly, but also Korea, Australia, Germany, Russia and even Egypt. LOL Didn't felt like a normal American high school to me.. It was like- totally cool and stuff- different perspectives and whatnot.

Not only that but there are also a number of non-human residents of the Webb Schools. Mr. S talked us through the- you know- safety precautions and stuff with wildlife on campus. Being on the hills of the St. Gabriel, Webb is home to coyotes, rattlesnakes, bears and groundhogs. lol- didn't have that in SPH, lol back in Lippo we only had grasshoppers and frogs to worry about /REMEMBERS AGRICULTURAL UNIT WITH MR T WHEN WE DID ENCOUNTER "WILDLIFE" AND HOW SOME STUDENTS WERE TOTALLY FREAKED OUT BY THEM

I also got to know my dorm room. I'm gonna be at Jameson 217. Yay! that's like 117 + 100. Master Chief's UNSC TAGNumber (from the Halo series) + 100, the perfect number 10 to the power of two. In addition 217 ends in 7, which is the perfect number. 217

Also found out who my advisor is. Mr. V is like the top Spanish teacher at Webb- didn't meet him yet but was told that he was a no-nonsense guy - erhmm.. haha.. so.. yea...

Taking all this into account I can say Webb is a great place. Friendly people, students and faculty living together on campus- I mean, this is a great place to learn- plus it's all multi-cultural so it really lessens the culture shock experience and stuff. yea.. plus sweet campus- beautiful... - quaint, but beautiful (and you can see that maybe some time in the near future when I do post pictures).

Oh, Mr. M is going to go on the admissions recruiting trip whatev to Singapore on Oct 24th so if any of you are interested like- yea- he's gonna be there- I definitely have no regrets about deciding to go to Webb- really. It's a great place.

Okay, so I'll continue the Orientation Day logs tomorrow,... tomorrow's gonna be a bit shorter though so yea..

Dorm Stuff

  • Aug. 15th, 2009 at 6:11 PM
me
BLOG: Hello again people of LJ, this is drewprox42 (as if you don't know already). I'm thinking of putting in a couple new sections in the future (which are probably more interesting than what's going on in my life haha). But today I'm gonna leave you guys with the usual BLOG entry.

Today I went shopping for dorm supplies and yes, I went to Bath, Bed & Beyond in the Upland area. I gotta say, the service there is brilliant. They got this thing set up where they pack the stuff up so that it'll be easier for me to move it in. Haha. Not too shabby. Plus I got this voice-activated alarm clock thing which is so rad- it's a killer product.... I think.

PRODUCT PLACEMENT: Jabra Headphones. Bluetooth Stereo headphones- Jabra Halo. I don't think they're out in Indonesia yet- just came out in America, but they are killer- awesome device- i mean, good bluetooth headphones don't come often.

K im done. take care.

AT&T, Who Can You Disappoint?

  • Aug. 12th, 2009 at 9:29 PM
me
BLOG: Hello people of LJ! Hey I got a new cell today! - It's an iPhone 3G S too so haha it's freaking awesome! I also got my new bank account in Bank of America up and running- WOW the interest rate here is near zero. This is crazy haha. So... yea, first full day in California and I gotta admit,

I WAS WRONG.

I thought that by this time of year SoCal would have cooled down or something- nah, temperature can still get really really hot- it is still summer. Can't wait til the winter though

SNAPSHOTS: I'm gonna get a point-and-shoot camera tomorrow so expect some pics to be posted or something- haha- and yes, point-and-shoot, not standard digital camera, not DSLR- I don't like complicated gadgets- I prefer simplicity and ease of use.

PRODUCT PLACEMENT: This blog post is sponsored by AT&T- the nation's fastest 3G network- ..... not really. HAHA. lol, and yea i dont like the AT&T service (3G is slowwww plus no tethering and MMS = sadface) but iPhone is hella awesome!

K, goodnight everybody (or good morning if ur in jakarta... hehe)
